The IT boom in Egypt appears to be on the rise – and so far – it doesn’t look like it will be slowing down anytime soon. With small and medium companies offering their services and customized software products – varying from simple corporate website development to complex applications being customized for banks and other large corporations – there is incredible money to be made by people in the IT industry willing to be on the cutting edge of technology and innovation.

And yet while projects become more demanding and complex, any software development professional – from programmer to project manager – will attest to having treated project management and documentation as nothing more than a formality, with no real use whatsoever. I’m sure if your reading this, you can remember being in college, writing documentation at the last moment, in a hurry just so that your teacher could give it a glance and make sure you had at least made the effort to write something underneath all the headings. It wasn’t until I started working in a project management capacity in a highly demanding startup environment myself, with deadlines tight and fast approaching all the time, did I realize the importance of properly planning out a project in order to minimize risk, maximize efficiency, and as anyone in the Egyptian environment will attest to – most importantly – fluidly and easily handle constantly changing requirements.
